Single Point load cells are often used in bench scales, platform scales and other precision weighing machines, but they are suitable for general purpose use in a wide range of other applications. They can be "moment compensated", meaning that they will accurately measure off-center loads. They're available with analog or digital (for long distance signal transmission) outputs. If protection against the environment is needed, they are available in sealed configurations that meet IP65 ratings. One important parameter to consider when using load cells is the speed with which the sensor must be able to change its output. Single point load cells are often lower frequency than other load cells, so applications requiring monitoring of rapidly-changing loads may be better suited by another cell configuration.
